Works would have 5 stars but....

It is rather simple to change out a bendix on an 8N (Mine is a 1948) - the only problem I encountered was the retaining pin - which fell out upon attempting to start the tractor. - took my old pin from the prior bendix and flared the ends a tiny bit - started the tractor no problem. The pin that comes with the replacement like the original, is pressured by the collar on the bendix - but it is too small for the job! Make it longer and .001 more diameter! Otherwise - I'm a happy camper.

dont wire it the way it came out

i am still trying to figure it out, if your only replacing the starter generator you should be ok. if you replaced the 2 solenoids (forward and reverse) with the White Roger replacements (who changed their wiring too) and now they don't match up to the new wiring on the starter. if someone has figured out the way around this, please post it
